Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the holy season of Lent and we are once again on our Lenten journey. The Church reminds us of the three traditional disciplines of Lent: Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving. We are invited to spend more time listening and talking to God, to fast from some of the comforts that can distract us from God, and to be charitible to our fellow brothers and sisters. The practice of these disciplines dates back to the early Church when catechumens were offered the example of what it means to live a truly Christian life; to walk in "the Way" of Jesus. May God bless us on our Lenten journey this year.
In Math, we are working our way through Chapter 6, Adding and Subtracting with Fractions. The students are learning how to use common denominators, because "You can't add apples and oranges"!
In Religion, we continue our studies of the Seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church. The students created beautiful Google Slides presentations showing the meaning of all the symbols associated with each of the sacraments.Their creativty was impressive!
Students are reminded to check Google Classroom daily for all assignments and notifications of upcoming events and due dates.
Each month, the St. Agnes school community focuses and reflects on a different virtue.
The virtue for March is " holiness".
What does it mean to be holy?
We can think of holiness as being "sanctified" or lifted up beyond the ordinary to a higher place. Ultimately, to be holy is to be more like God, the one who is holy.
We can also look to the Saints as examples of holiness. The lives of the saints inspire us to live holy lives. "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us."
